Skilled nursing and short-term rehabilitation in twelve small, home-like cottages in Cicero, New York.

Welcome

Skilled nursing care, without leaving a neighborhood behind

If you or a loved one requires skilled nursing care but is hesitant to move out of a neighborhood setting, The Cottages at Garden Grove, in a beautiful Cicero neighborhood, may be the next place you call home.

Small, home-like residences are an innovative care model that St. Joseph’s Hospital Health Center and Crouse Hospital introduced to Central New York. Instead of the fixed routines of a traditional nursing home, each cottage supports individual choices, and your life remains your own.

Frequently asked questions

What is the difference between long term care and short-term rehabilitation?

Long term care is ongoing skilled nursing for people who need care every day and make the Cottages their home. Short-term rehabilitation is a stay of days or weeks after surgery, injury or illness, with therapy focused on helping you return home.

How is care paid for?

Rehabilitation services are generally covered for older adults eligible for Medicare. The Cottages also accept patients with private insurance or the ability to pay privately. [PLACEHOLDER: add Medicaid and long term care insurance details]

What is a “small home” or cottage model?

Instead of one large building, care is provided in twelve separate homes of about thirteen residents each. Every home has private bedrooms with baths, a hearth room, an open kitchen and dining room, and its own patio and garden.
